MAARS IRLP Information

IRLP came to the MAARS repeater in the summer of 2002. Started a few years ago by David Cameron, VE7LTD, and the IRLP system uses the Internet backbone across the world to carry audio signals among the connected radio systems. MAARS was the third major repeater system in Southeastern Wisconsin to implement this technology. To learn more about IRLP in general, please visit their website:

The MAARS Board made policy in 2002 that IRLP would be made available to any MAARS member who attends a training session on how to properly control the IRLP installation. The Board further made policy that allows for travelling guests to use IRLP locally if they email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.  Please review the links in the menu on the left. Our first link, About IRLP... is a question/answer about why we installed the system onto our repeater. The second link, MAARS IRLP Policy, is a factsheet about our local policy on how IRLP should be used, and our expectations to those hams who wish to use the service on our repeater. The other Offsite links are other helpful webpages discussing IRLP.
